Change,
Change, Change…
Some people love it and some strongly resist, but
change is inevitable. Seasons change,
weather changes (wouldn’t it be nice to have 70 degrees & sunny all the
time? But then April showers wouldn’t
bring May flowers!). People and life
change and insurance changes to keep up.
You may think that all insurance is the same – just find
the cheapest price for the limit you chose and it’s all the same. Not true! As the world changes, insurance products change
to keep up. After all, the point of
insurance is to protect you so an unfortunate event doesn’t ruin your
life!
So what’s new?
Many new products have begun to emerge, such as coverage for Buried Utility
Lines (you know the water, sewer, gas & in some areas electric lines that lead
to your home). Coverage for OEM parts (most
companies won’t pay for original parts – even on new cars). Some companies
offer options for home sharing such as AirBNB or driving for a service such as
Uber or Lyft. Equipment breakdown (“Smart”
appliances are expensive!), but can it be confusing, so you definitely want to
discuss it with an independent insurance agent.
And options to
save on premium (loss forgiveness, decreasing deductibles, deductible
waiver, water leak detection systems & more.
So what should you do? Call your agent (or better yet, ME) to review
your coverage and make sure it’s changed with the times!
