The time has changed, but not the “To Do” list
The time has changed, but not the
“To
Do” list
We are back
to Standard time & got our first taste of snow – just a dusting, but an
indication of what’s to come! So now is
the time to take care of all those cold weather things you thought you could ignore
for a while (and this weekend is the perfect time).
For your
car:
Put the Ice
scraper/brush in the vehicle NOW (hopefully you won’t need it soon, but do you
really want to find yourself searching for it (or worse yet, using your credit card
to clean the windshield after work one day)???
Consider
installing winter grade wiper blades (you probably need to replace them anyway)
Inspect your
tires & battery – winter is hard on both & most auto supply places can
test the battery for free – and if needed install a new one!
Watch where
you park – Tree branches can fall under the weight of snow & fall on your
car!
Have windshield
chips repaired BEFORE they spider out – chips are usually repaired for
free (most companies waive the deductible) but replacement will incur a deductible!
For your
Home:
Disconnect hoses
& turn off the water supply – if temps drop the line could freeze &
burst!
Clean (or
schedule) gutters – clogged gutters can force water into your home!
Have your
furnace cleaned & checked – you really don’t want that repair when the
temps drop!
If you have
a fireplace – have it cleaned & Inspected – chimney fires are very
dangerous!
Check Smoke
& CO2 detectors & replace batteries (or the unit) if needed.
